4 dengue patients die, 781 hospitalized in 24 hrs

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Four more dengue patients died and 781 were hospitalized across the country during the last 24 hours.

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 130 were admitted in Barishal Division (outside City Corporation), 82 in Chattogram Division (outside City Corporation), 101 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 48 in Khulna Division (outside City Corporation), 40 in Mymensingh Division (outside City Corporation), 63 in Rajshahi Division (outside City Corporation), 32 in Rangpur Division (outside City Corporation) and 7 in Sylhet Division (outside City Corporation). 

Dhaka North City Corporation recorded the highest number of Dengue patients amounting 162 within the time and Dhaka South City Corporation recorded 116 patients. All the four death cases were also reported from these two zones, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 798 dengue patients were released from hospitals after recovery, raising the total number of recoveries this year to 50,209, the press release read.

So far in 2025, a total of 52,885 dengue cases have been recorded, of which 61.1 percent are male and 38.9 percent female.

With the latest four deaths, the total number of fatalities from dengue this year has reached 224.

Last year, the total number of cases rose to 1,01,214, while 575 deaths from the dengue disease were reported.
