DHAKA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - The benchmark DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rebounded today after two sessions amid the emergence of investors' bargain-hunting sentiment.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, inched up by 2.9 points or 0.1% to settle down at 5,119 points compared to 5,117 points in the previous session.

Market analysts observed that the market witnessed an oscillation between the continuation of offloading stakes and selective buying interest.

Despite buyers' efforts to rebound the benchmark index from the onset of the trading session, selling pressure emerged consequently to fade the optimism to conclude the session broadly unchanged.

However, market turnover declined by 8.8% to Taka 4.4 billion.

On the sectoral front, General Insurance (16.5%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharmaceutical (12.2%) and Textile (9.3%) sectors. Sectors displayed mixed performance, out of which General Insurance (1.8%), Life Insurance (1.4%) and Engineering (0.6%) showed the most gains on the bourse today, while Jute (-2.1%), Paper (-1.4%) and Ceramic (-1.1%) exerted the most declines.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 153 advanced, 176 declined and 68 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, continued experiencing bearish sessions. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 23.3 and 36.0 points, respectively.
