AmCham honors legacy of exemplary national leader Begum Khaleda Zia

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) has expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the second female head of government in the Muslim world.

In a message of condolence, the AmCham said, “Her exemplary leadership marked a defining chapter in Bangladesh’s modern history. She broke barriers and reshaped the legacy of women’s leadership in South Asia and beyond. We remember her national leadership and democratic legacy in shaping the economy, education, and nation building,”

The AmCham also said, “We believe the nation will remain united and draw lessons from her resilience, empathy, and dedication to public life. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her bereaved family during this time of profound loss,”

The Chamber also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed its deepest sympathy to the family members of the bereaved, her loved ones, followers, and well-wishers to endure this irreparable loss.
