CHATTOGRAM, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) – The Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) today congratulated Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on being appointed Finance and Planning Minister in the BNP-led new government under the premiership of Tarique Rahman.

“On behalf of the business community, I would like to congratulate Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, who is also a former CCCI president, on being appointed Finance and Planning Minister – the first from Chattogram to hold the post,” CCCI Administrator Md. Motahar Hossain said in a press release issued today.

The statement said the people of the country delivered an unprecedented verdict in the just-concluded free, fair and peaceful election, which drew wide appreciation at home and abroad. It added that the new Finance and Planning Minister had successfully performed all responsibilities entrusted to him in the past, including serving as Commerce Minister.

“CCCI hopes that he will now be able to turn the country into a role model in trade, business and investment by utilising his vast experience and mobilising internal resources through the formulation of a balanced development roadmap,” the statement said.

The CCCI Administrator further said Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury would succeed in building an economically self-reliant nation by providing policy support related to trade and commerce.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury played a pioneering role in establishing the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE), the country’s second bourse.
