DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - Stock today witnessed a modest pullback following the previous session's recovery momentum, as cautious selling resurfaced on the trading floor, although sustained investor participation signaled underlying resilience in the broader market trend.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, shed 10.7 points or 0.2% to settle at 5,542 points as against 5,553 points in the previous trading session.

From the outset of the session, the market exhibited range-bound trading, failing to cross the 5,600 thresholds since investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence.

However, selling pressure turned dominant in the final hour as the market pulse remained broadly cautious, ultimately dragging the broad index to negative territory by the session's close.

Meanwhile, market turnover increased by 14.8% to Taka 8.2 billion from Taka 7.1 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Bank (26.0%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (11.5%) and Textile (9.5%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Paper (-2.1%), Ceramic (-1.4%) and General Insurance (-1.3%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today, while IT (1.1%), Services (0.4%) and Tannery (0.2%) exhibited marginal positive return.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 118 advanced, 213 declined and 66 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, however witnessed a flat session today. The selected indices (CSCX) and all Share Price Index (CASPI) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 1.0 points and 5.9 points respectively.
