Govt to buy 9,000MT lentils

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved a proposal to procure 9,000 metric tons (MT) of lentils to strengthen national reserves, with a total contract value of Taka 72.53 crore.

The approval came at the 19th meeting of the committee held in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. The Ministry of Commerce placed the proposal. 

The procurement is being carried out through the Local Open Tender (National) method, with lentils to be supplied in 50kg bags as per technical specifications.

The procurement has been divided into three lots. Under Lot-1, Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited of Kawran Bazar, Dhaka will supply 3,000 MT at a cost of Taka 23.96 crore. 

For Lot-2, M/S Salman Khurshid of Baneswar Bazar, Puthia, Rajshahi will supply 3,000 MT at the same price of Taka 23.96 crore. 

The same firm secured Lot-3 as well, supplying another 3,000 MT at a cost of Taka 24.59 crore.
