DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) has issued a revised reporting framework for agent banking aimed at enhancing the quality and depth of monthly data submitted by scheduled banks operating agent banking services in the country.

The revision has been introduced to ensure more granular and comprehensive data collection to support timely and effective policy formulation, as well as to meet the growing demand of stakeholders for detailed information on agent banking activities, including agents, outlets, and account holders, said a BB circular issued today.

Under the revised format, banks are required to report gender-disaggregated information covering agents, outlets, and account holders.

The new framework also includes the reporting of out-of-outlet transactions, agent-level profitability status, and geolocation-related updates to strengthen the accuracy of spatial banking data.

The Bangladesh Bank further instructed that any changes in geolocation mapping or status must be communicated immediately via email to maintain the integrity of the national agent banking database.

According to the circular, all scheduled banks must submit monthly data by the 10th day of the following month through email to [email protected], along with a hard copy of the summary to the Director of the Agent Banking Statistics Division.

Banks have also been directed to ensure accuracy of the submitted data and consult the relevant officials in case of any ambiguity.

To facilitate a smooth transition, the revised reporting format will come into effect from June 2023, while a dual reporting system—covering both the existing and revised formats—will remain in place until August 2023.

From September 2023 onwards, the previous reporting format will be officially withdrawn, making the revised framework the sole standard for agent banking data submission.
