CCGP approves import of 35,000MT MOP fertilizer

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved a proposal to import 35,000 metric tons (MT) of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer from Russia to meet the country’s growing agricultural demand.

The approval came at the 19th meeting of the committee held in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

Under a state-level agreement, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will procure the fertilizer from Russia’s state-owned JSC “Foreign Economic Corporation (Prodintorg)”. 

The procurement represents the 10th lot under the existing agreement, covering 35,000 MT with a standard variation of plus or minus 10 percent.

The committee approved the purchase at a rate of US$368.13 per metric ton, bringing the total cost of the consignment to Taka 156.74 crore.
