
DHAKA, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rebounded today asbargain hunters stepped in to buy beaten-down stocks at attractive prices,helping the benchmark index recover from an intra-day fall of nearly 70points and close in positive territory.
The DSEX, broad index of the DSE, gained 9.0 points to settle at 5,567points, compared with 5,558 points in the previous trading session.
The market witnessed volatile trading throughout the session, withintensified selling pressure in the middle of the session pushing the DSEX below the 5,500-point mark.
However, late-session buying reversed the losses and helped the index stage a strong turnaround.
Market turnover increased by 4.8 percent to Taka 5.7 billion from Taka 5.5billion in the previous session.
Textile stocks accounted for the highest share of turnover at 29.8 percent,followed by general insurance at 12.8 percent and pharmaceuticals at 12.0percent.
Among sectors, textile gained 2.7 percent, travel 1.9 percent and financialinstitutions 0.9 percent. Cement, paper and telecommunications declined 1.1 percent, 0.5 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.
Of the 395 issues traded, 168 advanced, 145 declined and 82 remainedunchanged.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), however, closed lower, with the CSCXfalling 45.5 points and the CASPI declining 82.1 points.
