CHANDPUR, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in a drive
seized 500 kilograms of jatka [hilsa fry] from Charbhairabi area under
Haimchar upazila of the district this morning.

On a tip-off, a team of the BCG conducted a drive in the river Meghna around
6 am and seized the jatka from Machghat area, said Sadar upazila fisheries
officer M Mizanur Rahman.

Later, the seized fishes were distributed to orphanages, madrasha and poor
people, he said.

Lieutenant Fazlur Rahman, commander of Chandpur Coast Guard Station, said
none was arrested in this connection as the real owner of the jatka could not
be found during the operation.

Such operations will continue to protect Hilsa fish, he further said.
