KHULNA, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS) - The 89th birth anniversary of the architect of
multi-party democracy and founder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)
Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was celebrated here today in a befitting
manner.

Local units of BNP and its front organizations and socio-cultural bodies
arranged colourful programmes to mark the day.

The programmes included rallies, cultural functions, discussions, sport
competition and other programmes.

City unit BNP organized a discussion titled "Democracy, Development and
Freedom of Tongue" at Khulna Press Club to mark the birth anniversary.

BNP's Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal addressed the meeting
as chief guest with city unit convener Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona in the
chair.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by local BNP leaders Joyanta Kumar
Kundu, Moniruzzaman Montu, Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, Advocate Momrejul Islam and
Syeda Rehena Isha.

The discussants highlighted the life and works of Shaheed President Ziaur
Rahman along with his heroic contribution to the country's great War of
Liberation.
 
Marking the day, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, all educational
institutions in the city, including Khulna University, Khulna Medical College
and Khulna University of Engineering Technology (KUET) also organized
discussions on the life and works of Ziaur Rahman.
