Two killed as train hits auto-rickshaw in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Jan 20, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including the driver of a battery-run auto-rickshaw, were killed as a train hit the vehicle in Narsingdi's Raipura upazila last night.

The accident occurred around 9pm at Hasnabad level crossing under Amirganj union of the upazila when a Dhaka-bound train hit an auto rickshaw while it was crossing the rail line, said Md Jahirul Islam, sub-inspector of Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost.
    
Both the auto-rickshaw driver and passenger died on the spot, he said.

The deceased were Bachchu Mia, 50, son of late Abdul Kadir and Mannaaf Mia 48, son of Kolim Uddin, residents of Noyachar village under Adiabad union of upazila.
