One held with 12 gold bars in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) – Police in a drive arrested a man with 12 gold
bars from Birampur upazila frontier area of the district today.

The arrested person is Joydev Mahanta, 40, son of Giren Mahanta of Kanchanpur
village under Adamdighi upazila in Bogura district.


On a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at Mukundapur Market of the upazila
around 12.30 pm and arrested Joydev with the gold bars worth over Taka 1.39
crore, said M Momtazul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Birampur police station this
afternoon.

A case was filed in this connection with the police station.
