CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested two activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jubo League on charges of shooting during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement on August 4.

The arrested are Rivu Majumder, 27, an activist of BCL, and Md Jamal, 40, an activist of Jubo League. They were sent to jail through a court order.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested them conducting a drive in the Shaymoli residential area in the city last night, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandgaon Police Station Aftab Ahmed.

In a video footage it was seen that the duo opened fire on protesters during the student-led mass uprising on August 4, said the OC.

The arrested primarily confessed that over 15 to 16 BCL-Jubo League men were involved in the attack.

"We are trying to arrest them and recover arms and ammunition," the OC added.
