CHATTOGRAM, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS) - City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said every school is required to employ a psychologist to look after mental health of children.
“Psychological support is especially needed for hyperactive and non-responsive children. With the help of a psychologist, it is possible to develop the latent talents of these children. If they get psychological support, they can become confident and creative,” he said.
Dr Shahdat said these while inaugurating ‘Preston International School’ in the city’s GEC area this afternoon.
Highlighting the role of psychologists in the mental development of students, he said that psychologists not only help reduce mental stress, but they also can read the minds of children and give them right direction.
“They even play an important role in improving the child’s relationship with the family. If a psychologist is appointed at every school, students will be able to learn in a stress-free environment and the quality of their education will improve,” he added.
The city mayor said, ‘We need to develop our children as moral and humane citizens not only for good results in academic exams’.
“The combination of moral education and mental well-being plays an important role in building a beautiful society," he added.
Preston International School founder and chairman Mosrur Uddin Anwar presided over the function while its chairman Ishrat Jahan, advisor Ahsan Ullah Sadi, chief operating officer (COO) Kaniz Fatema and Lion Sajjad, among others, attended the function.
