Elephant attacks kills worker in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) - A worker was killed as a wild elephant attack him in Lama upazila of the district early hours of today.

The victim was M Kalu Mia, 50, a labourer at a betel leaf farm in Ishaq Member Para and son of Akkel Ali, a resident of Shaplapur union under Maheskhali upazila in Cox's Bazar district.

Kalu was fatally injured as a herd of elephants raided a storage hut in Ishaq Member Para around 4:00am, said Md Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lama Police Station.

Later, Kalu was taken to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was handed over to the family, the OC said.
