Schoolboy dies in Meherpur road crash

MEHERPUR, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - A student was killed and his uncle injured as a truck hit their motorbike at Abubpur under Gangni upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was Md. Taimuzzaman, 09, a second-grade student of Mission Primary School and son of Md. Maharuzzaman,  resident of Stadium Para in the district town.

The accident took place on the Meherpur-Kushtia road when a brick-laden truck hit a motorcycle from behind, leaving its two riders injured, said Bani Israel, officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station.

The injured were taken to Mirpur 50-bed Health Complex in Kushtia, where the on-duty doctor declared Taimuzzaman dead.

Necessary legal action will be taken based on the complaint of the deceased's family, the OC said.
