NAOGAON, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested three people from different areas of the district last night in connection with the murder of a man.

The arrested persons are Mamunur Rashid, 36, Rubel Hossain, 25, and Mohammad Raju Hasan, 32. All of them are residents of Ghoshnagar village under Patnitala upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted raids at various locations in the district and apprehended the suspects.

On December 15, Zahidul Islam, 41, a resident of the same area, was murdered. After the killing, the accused allegedly dumped his body under a culvert in the Raiga union of Mahadevpur upazila, said Mohammad Shafiul Sarwar, superintendent of police, at a press conference today.

Following the incident, the deceased's wife filed a murder case with Patnitala police station.

During the initial interrogation, the arrested persons confessed to their involvement in the murder, stating that they killed Zahidul over previous enmity, the SP said.

Efforts are underway to arrest the other suspects involved in the case, he added.
