Building model for sustainable agricultural marketing underscored

KHULNA, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS)- Speakers at a workshop here unequivocally called for building a model for sustainable agricultural marketing integrating knowledge of international and domestic for the greater welfare of making the country's grassroots farming profitable and sustainable.

Marginalized farmers in the country's southwest region face multiple challenges every year due to the adverse impact of climate change. There is an urgent need to build their capacity to face the challenges, they said.

Academics and experts came up with the observation while addressing the opening session of a two-day international workshop titled "Enhancing Agribusiness Competitiveness with Digital Technology for Climate-smart Farming in Bangladesh" at Khulna University (KU) on Monday.

Business Administration Discipline (BAD) of KU and Bern University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland jointly organized the workshop at the conference hall of KU Central Laboratory.

KU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Rejaul Karim addressed the session as the chief guest, while Prof Nurunnabi of the business administration discipline and Prof Ingrid Frem from the Bern University spoke as focal persons disseminating their expertise on the issue.

With BAD Head Prof Mahmudul Hassan in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by KU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Harunor Rashid Khan and Prof Nur Alam of BAD.

VC Prof Rejaul Karim called for utilizing the innovative solutions for improving living and livelihood conditions of the farmers through facing the practical challenges.

Impact of climate change has been creating various challenges in the marginal levels. In this situation, teachers, researchers and practitioners should take the responsibility for finding out ways of solutions to protect the farmers' interests.
