Indomitable successful women are inspiration for all women: Keya Khan

RANGPUR, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - Director General (DG) of the Department of Women Affairs Keya Khan has said the grassroots level indomitable successful women in various fields are great source of inspiration for all women in the society.
 
“I hope that in future, a society will be created where men and women will work together with respect and enjoy equal security and dignity,” she said.
 
The DG said this in her speech as the chief guest at a function organized to honour 40 indomitable women of Rangpur division under the programme titled 'Indomitable Women Award' at the Rangpur Parjatan Motel auditorium in the city today .
 
The Divisional Commissioner's Office and the Department of Women's Affairs of Rangpur jointly organised the function at the initiative of the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, with the aim of inspiring and motivating grassroots women who are struggling in various fields in remote areas of the country.
 
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam presided over the function participated by government officials, indomitable women of Rangpur Division and local journalists.
 
The Director General said that today's women awardees have set an example by overcoming adversities.
 
Regarding women's empowerment, she said that although the government has taken many steps for women's empowerment, problems like child marriage still exist as a big challenge.
 
“Awareness and cooperation of men are very important to ensure women's empowerment,” she said.
 
The Divisional Commissioner said that the 'Indomitable Women's Award' is a special initiative. The   40 noble women who won awards in five categories in this programme is truly commendable.
 
He said, “The work and talent of the winning women will be an inspiration to others. However, it must be remembered that talent is fleeting, but hard work never goes in vain.”
 
He urged women to work intelligently to establish themselves in society.
 
DIG of Rangpur Range, Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal and Additional Director of the Department of Women's Affairs Md Monir Hossain  spoke as special guests.
 
Officials said five out of 40 indomitable women of Rangpur Division were selected as the best indomitable women at the event.
 
The best indomitable women selected are: Masuma Khanam in the category of achieving economic success,  Farhana Binte Alam in the category of achieving success in education and employment, Marina Besra in the category of successful mother, Hosne Ara Begum in the category of starting life with new initiatives after erasing the horror of torture and Advocate Anjuman Ara Shapla in the category of outstanding contribution to social development.
