TANGAIL, Mar 10, 2025(BSS)- A court here today granted four days police remand to Marium Mukaddes Misty, a woman coordinator of Tangail, for her alleged involvement in forcibly occupying a house of a former lawmaker.
Tangail Sadar thana police produced Mysty, a coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Movement, before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Golam Mahbub Khan with a prayer for seven-day police remand.
The court after hearing the statement of the prosecution side granted her four days remand.
Earlier on Sunday night, Rawshan Ara Khan, wife of former lawmaker and general secretary of Tangail district Awami League Mozaherul Islam Khan, lodged complaint against seven to nine persons including Misty with Sadar Thana.
The complainant alleged that Misty along with her accomplices forcibly entered into the house of Mozaherul Islam and captured the house with 17 mental patients on Saturday morning.
She also announced that the house will be used as a shelter home for the mentally sick persons.
A team of the joint forces led by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Land of Tangail district administration Ruhul Amin Sharif, on that night conducted an operation and drove away all the illegal occupiers from the house. The woman coordinator was also taken to custody but later released on bond. Police arrested her yesterday following filing of the case.
All the mentally sick persons were later sent to the government shelter home in Mymensingh and Gazipur, district administration sources said.
