22 arrested for attempting to snatch an abductor in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 22 miscreants today on charges of trying to snatch a female abductor who kidnapped four local children from the railway station area of Rangpur city on the night of March 28 from police custody.
 
 “When the arrested were presented before the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Judge Md. Soyebur Rahman ordered to send them to Rangpur Central Jail on the basis of custody warrants this afternoon,” Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station OC Ataur Rahman told BSS tonight.
 
OC Ataur Rahman said the police arrested the female kidnapper Aduri Begum at the Rangpur Railway Station while she was trying to escape after kidnapping four local children from Tapodhan village in Rangpur city on March 28 night. 
 
At that time, some of the local crowd tried to snatch the female kidnapper from the police custody in front of the post office adjacent to the railway station. 
 
When a tense situation arose at this time, the army arrived at the scene and jointly took the kidnapper to the police station. 
 
“In this incident, the police filed a case with the Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station on the charge of attempting to kidnap the arrested female abductor from police custody,” the OC added. 
 
The arrested are Md. Rubel, 34, Md. Hridoy, 20, Md. Shah Paran, 25, Md. Zahid Hasan, 19, Md. Saddam Hossain, 31, Shakib Hossain, 19, Md. Shahadat Hossain, 25, Shamsher Ali, 35, Ismail Hossain, 45, Sonu, 23, Shaju Mia, 38, Javed, 44, Zahid Golden, 24, Badal Mia, 19, Sohel, 25, Dulal Mia, 27, Afsar Ali, 22, Sayeed Hossain, 20, Shahjahan Hossain, 25, and Abdul Hamid alias Hira, 44, of Muslim Para area in Rangpur city and Javed, 30, of Saidpur town in Nilphamari and Rezaul Karim, 37, of Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur.
