Separate accidents kill two in Tangail, Panchagarh

DHAKA, April 4, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including an Ansar commander, were 
killed in separate road mishaps in Tangail and Panchagarh today, police and 
witnesses said.

In Tangail, an Ansar commander indentified as Shafiullah Mia, 47, was killed 
in a road accident in Delduar upazila of the district this morning.
 
The victim was a Platoon Commander (PC) of Ansar members in-charge of 
security at the office of Manoharganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in 
Cumilla, police said. 

He faced the accident while he was walking through a street near by his home 
at Delduar Road here.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Ali of Delduar Police Station said a running 
truck, losing its control over the steering, hit an electric pole that broke 
down on Shafiullah’s head, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, he was taken to a local hospital where attending doctors declared him 
dead.
 
Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider named Farhad Ahmed Siam, 30, was killed and 
another youth Mahfuz Hasan, 30, received serious injuries in a road accident 
in Panchagarh district last night.

The accident occurred last afternoon when their motorcycle collided head-on 
with a truck on Boda-Debiganj road at Battoli in Sarkar Para village of 
Chandanbari Upazila Parishad (UP) in Boda upazila of the district.

Siam succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital and 
Mahfuz was undergoing treatment there.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boda upazila Azim Uddin confirmed.
