Coast Guard arrests 5 dacoits, recovers arms, bombs, drugs in Bhola

BHOLA, April 4, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard today arrested five dacoits and recovered a locally manufactured firearm, 21 handmade bombs and 569 pieces of yaba tablets along with cash from Bheduria area here.


The arrestees are Md Jahangir, 65, Md Manju, 35, Md Zia, 30, Abdul Abbas, 30, and Md Selim, 26.


Operation officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard at Bhola South Zone Lt Rifat Ahmed told newsmen that a coast guard team conducted a special drive at Bheduria union of sadar upazila at about 2am today and arrested five notorious dacoits from there.
 

He said the drive was conducted based on secret information. The coast guard team also recovered firearm, drugs, handmade bombs and Tk. 44,510 from their possession.


Rifat also said that several cases were also pending in different police station against the arrestees. 


He said Bangladesh Coast Guard has been working to ensure security of coastal areas as well as common people.
