10-day Baishakhi Fair begins in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, April 5, 2025 (BSS) - The 10-day Baisakhi Fair has begun today at Majherbosti of the district marking the 'Boisabi Utsab' (Festival), the biggest traditional event in the hill regions, and Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Boishakh in the Bengali calendar.

Rangamati chamber of commerce & industry president also BNP's district unit general secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun inaugurated the fair by releasing colorful balloons at Shah ML High School premises.

Some 80 shops will display cottage and handicraft items, exquisite house decoration goods, and a wide array of delicious foods and traditional clothing.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, various exciting rides, including a whirligig, have been set up to delight children.

Although the fair will conclude on April 14, the fair organizing committee has planned a series of events for the following day that include a traditional Mangal Shobhayatra, a Panta Bhat festival showcasing traditional cuisine, and a lively cultural program featuring a band show.

Local dignitaries and members of the fair organizing committee were present at the inaugural ceremony of the festival.
