Hindu community celebrates Astami Snan in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, April 5, 2025 (BSS) – Hindu community celebrated holy ‘Astami 
Snan’ with due religious fervor in the district today.

Thousands of ‘Hindu’ devotees from various parts of the district participated in 
the holy bath at Lalchamar, Kamarjani, Kalmughat, Balashighat, and Jumarbari 
spot.

Hindu devotees began taking ablution in the Old Brahmaputra from morning and 
continued till afternoon.

District and upazila administrations including law-enforcing agencies have taken 
strict security measures for peaceful completion of the festival. 

The Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) has installed tube wells 
in cooperation with local government bodies on the spots to provide pure 
drinking water to the devotees, said an official of DPHE.
