CHATTOGRAM, April 5, 2025 (BSS)- Police arrested five people and seized
valuable contraband goods including gold bars, laptops, and mobile phone sets
worth about Taka 1.60 crore from their possession after searching a car near
Patenga Airport area here last night.
 
The arrested were Toufiqur Rahman Sohag, 37, son of late Mujibur Rahman,
Akidul Islam Shanto, 22, son of Abdul Haq, and Naimul Haq, 20, of Khandaker
Para under Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar district, Hasan Murad, 24, son of
Shawkat Osman of Baroitali under the upazila, and Monir Ahmed, 48, son of
late Abdul Hakim of Aochea village under Satkania upazila of the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga thana Shafiqul Islam said the on-duty
police of an outpost at Airport crossing seized the goods from a city-bound
car at about 11 pm.
 
The seized goods include gold bars weighing 1.155 kilograms, five mobile
phone sets, two laptops and 13 carton foreign-brand cigarettes.
 
A case has been lodged with Patenga Police Station in this connection.
