RANGPUR, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - Local journalists have formed a human chain
and protest rally in the city demanding an immediate end to the Israeli
genocide against journalists, women, children and civilians in Gaza,
Palestine.
The Rangpur Joint Journalists Association (RCJS) organized the event at the
city's Press Club premises on Wednesday afternoon with its member-secretary
Liaqat Ali Badal in the chair.
Rangpur Journalists' Union President Salequzzaman Salek and General Secretary
Sarker Mazharul Mannan, Rangpur City Press Club General Secretary Humayun
Kabir Manik, Bangladesh Photojournalists Association- Rangpur General
Secretary Asaduzzaman Afzal, journalist Fakhrul Shaheen and other journalists
spoke at the event.
The speakers called upon the world community to come forward to immediately
stop the genocide against women, children and civilians including journalists
in Gaza.
They said that the ongoing genocide in Gaza has surpassed all previous
genocide records in the world. The world is still silent on human rights
violations and some countries are only patronizing Israel without taking any
visible action.
They expressed surprise and said that they do not understand why Islamic
countries and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) are silent on the
incident in Gaza. Now is the time for them to come forward and protect Gaza.
They said that indiscriminate massacres of men, women, children and
journalists are being carried out in Gaza. The journalist community of
Rangpur has also taken to the streets to protest this massacre.
They called on the world community to unite and take steps to stop this
genocide and bring Israel to justice under international law for the most
heinous human rights violations in human history.
Member journalists of Reporters' Club Rangpur, Rangpur City Press Club,
Rangpur Reporters Unity, Rangpur Reporters Club, Bangladesh Photojournalists
Association-Rangpur, Television Camera Journalists Association-Rangpur, Begum
Rokeya University Journalists Association, Rangpur Journalists Union and
journalists of other organizations and media workers participated in this
programme.
