Armed gang gun down farmer, injures 3 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 10, 2025 (BSS)- Some unidentified miscreants equipped with 
firearms gunned down a farmer and injured three others in a Hilly area of 
Sarafvhata union under Rangunia upazila of the district in the early morning 
today. 

The deceased was Awai Mong Marma, 37, son of Aongshee Pru Marma of Marma 
Palli at Barakhola Para of the upazila.

The incident took place when the armed terrorists shot the farmers as they 
were guarding a lemon producing farm to save agro-product from theft that 
occurred frequently in the remote and solitary Hilly areas recently.
 
The wounded who sustained bullet injuries were identified as Mongray Marma, 
35, son of Mongsa Jai Marma, Hlasla Thui Marma, 25, son of Chai Peu Marma and 
Usaimong Marma, 17, son of Shaw Ching Marma, all of them are hailed from the 
same locality of the upazila.
 
The miscreants intruded their farm and shot them as they were guarding that 
like other night, leaving Awai Mong Marma dead on the spot and injuring three 
others, said ATM Shifatul Majdar, officer-in-charge (OC) of South Rangunia 
thana.

The wounded were sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and 
the body was kept at its morgue, he said. 

None was arrested in this connection, the OC added.

Master Ananto Chowdhury, a local resident, said all the victims of the 
incidents are farmers who run their family by farming and selling lemon.
