SHERPUR, April 11, 2025 (BSS) - A day-long training for farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs was held today at the Agricultural Extension Hall Room in the district town.
The training was held under the Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNER) for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Presided over by Additional Director of Mymensingh Region Dr Salma Laiju, the program was attended by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (Extension Wing) Md Zakir Hossain as the chief guest.
“GAP certification will play an important role in ensuring advanced technology and quality production in agriculture. This will create opportunities for farmers to enter the international market,” Zakir Hossain said at the programme.
The District Agriculture Office said that the agricultural departments of the greater Mymensingh region are working to produce exportable crops, cultivate safe food and create new agricultural entrepreneurs. In continuation of this, the day-long training was held today with 50 farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.
In the training, farmers were given an idea about the GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification process, its importance and the method of ensuring quality in agricultural production. Certificates were distributed among the participants at the end of the training.
Among others, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the district Md Sakhawat Hossain, District Training Officer Shoaib Ahmed, Additional Deputy Director Humayun Kabir and other district officials were present at the event.
