Bandarban court orders for treating sick bear

BANDARBAN, April 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Bandarban has ordered for treating a sick bear at a mini zoo at the Meghla Tourism Center in the district.

Bandarban Senior Judicial Magistrate AS Imran passed the order in suo motu on Thursday.

The court ordered Bandarban Sadar Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) to identify whether there is any negligence on the part of the zoo authorities regarding the bear's illness.

In addition, the court ordered to file the investigation report on May 6.

According to court sources, on April 9, a pitiful picture of a sick bear at the mini zoo at the Bandarban Meghla Tourism Center went viral on social media. In the video, the bear is seen with deep wounds on the back of its body. Along with that, it was seen limping. Animal lovers have been making numerous comments under the video about the negligence of the authorities. In addition, a report was also published in a news media earlier.

The issues came to the attention of Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate Taufiqul Islam. Later, he shared the matter with his colleague, Senior Judicial Magistrate AS Imran. Afterward, the court passed the order in suo moto.
