17 shops gutted in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, April 11, 2025 (BSS) -At least 17 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Munsirhat bazaar under Matlab Dakshin upazila of the district in early hours of today.

Deputy Assistant Director of north fire service and civil defense station Syed Morshed Hossen confirmed the matter to BSS. 

Fire service sources said, "At first the fire broke out at a hardware shop in the market at around 7:15 am and within moments it spread to the neighboring shops." 

Syed Morshed Hossen said, "Being informed four units of Matlab Dakshin and Sadar upazila rushed to the scene and after nearly one hour of frantic effort the blaze was brought under control." 

However, the extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained, he added. 
 
No casualties were reported in this fire incident.
