17 wild animals rescued from Sherpur

SHERPUR, April 12, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 17 wild animals were rescued from Ghazni Recreation Center Zoo in Jhenaigati upazila of the district last night.

A team of Forest Department's Wildlife Crime Suppression Unit led by its Inspector Nargis Sultana conducted a drive at thes recreation centre and rescued these wild animals from the mini zoo.

The rescued animals include one python, four forest cats, one civet (locally known as gandhagokul), one hawk, five monkeys, one fox and four deer.

Assistant Conservator of Forest SB Tanvir Ahmed Emon, District Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Officer Suman Kumar, along with other officials from the department, were present during the rescue operation.
