Five arrested with 7,800 Yaba tablets in Sylhet

SYLHET, April 12, 2025 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) has arrested
five alleged drug peddlers with 7,839 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 207
bottles of phensedyl in Sylhet, a RAB press release said this morning.

A RAB team in a drive arrested Minu Mia, 60, of Chhabria village in Zakiganj
upazila, with 4,839 pieces of yaba tablets from Charkhai Bazar area of Beanibazar
Police Station last night.
 
In another drive, the RAB team arrested Abdul Ahad, 25, with 3,100 pieces of
yaba tablets from Tikor Nayakhel area of Gowainghat Police Station.

Besides, three people were arrested with 207 bottles of phensedyl during a raid in
Dhupagul Bazar area of Khadimnagar union in Airport police station.

They are Raihan Mia,34, Harun Or Rashid, 44, and Arif Mia, 35, residents of
different areas of Narsingdi district.

RAB-9 Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam
Sohag said that a case has been filed against the detainees and they have been
handed over to the concerned police station along with the seized drugs.
