Record Tk 9.18cr found at historic Pagla Mosque

KISHOREGANJ, April 12, 2025 (BSS) – A record amount of Taka 9,17,80,687 were found in the donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque in the district along with a huge amount of foreign currencies and jewelry.

After a recess of four months and 12 days, some 11 donation boxes of the Pagla Mosque were opened today where the amount was found in some 28 sacks.

A group of around 400 people including mosque management committee members, teachers and students of the Madrasah and Orphanage situated on the mosque complex took part in the counting process of the 28 sacks filled with notes.

Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Managing Committee President Fouzia Khan and Police Super Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury were present on the occasion.

Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Rupali Bank of Kishoreganj Branch Rafiqul Islam informed this after the formal counting of the amount this evening.

A total of Taka 80,75,73,576 is deposited with the bank account of Pagla Mosque.

Authorities concerned informed that the work for an eye catching “Pagla Mosque Islamic Complex” would be initiated soon with an estimated initial cost of Taka 115 crore where some 60,000 people would be able to perform their prayers at a time on completion of the complex works.
