'Tathya Apa' project accelerating women's empowerment: Momtaz Ahmed

RANGPUR, April 12, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Momtaz Ahmed today said the ‘Tathya Apa’ project is creating job opportunities for women in remote areas accelerating their empowerment. 
 
“In the present era of information technology, the 'Tathya Apa' project is playing a significant role in involving women entrepreneurs in online platforms and helping them to face the challenges of marketing their products,” she said. 
 
She said this while addressing a seminar titled “Potentials and Obstacles of Women Entrepreneurs in E-Commerce and Ways to Overcome” held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in the city as the chief guest.
 
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and the National Women’s Organization (Jatiya Mahila Sangstha) jointly organized the seminar under the ‘Tatha Apa’ project. 
 
Deputy Director (Local Government) of Rangpur Md. Mainul Islam presided over the program. 
 
Executive Director of the National Women's Organization Shahana Sharmin, Director of the ‘Tathya Apa’ project Shahnaz Begum Nina, and its Deputy Project Director Md Nazmul Islam addressed the event as special guests. 
 
Training Coordinator and Senior Trainer of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh Syed Rakibul Haque presented the keynote address at the beginning of the program. 
 
The chief guest said that the current position of women in society is the contribution of Begum Rokeya. However, women still have to face many adversities to establish themselves in society. 
 
Regarding the ‘Tatha Apa’ project, she said that job opportunities have been created through the 'Tathya Apa' project for women accelerating their empowerment in the society. 
 
“Marketing the products produced by women entrepreneurs is becoming challenging day by day. In this regard, online platforms like the 'Tathya Apa' project are rapidly becoming popular,” she said. 
 
She especially called upon all concerned to fulfill their responsibilities with dedication for successful implementation of the 'Tathya Apa’ project.
 
The participants suggested providing ample training to women entrepreneurs, forming their cooperative societies, widespread publicity about their product marketing on online platforms, involving them in agricultural product processing, etc. 
 
Officials, information service officers, women entrepreneurs, and journalists were present at the program.
