Two workers killed at GPH Ispat factory in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 13, 2025 (BSS)- Two workers were killed when a lift
carrying them collapsed at GPH Ispat factory in Sultana Mandir area under
Sitakunda upazila of the district this afternoon.
 
The deceased were Mohammad Mostafa, 25, son of Roknuzzaman, hailed from
Kumira Sultana Mandir area under Sitakunda upazila and Md. Rifat, 25, son of
Shamsul Haque, hailed from Karua village under Mirsarai upazila of the
district.
 
Police said the workers were repairing air conditioners (ACs) in different
buildings of the factory. The duo received serious injuries when a cable of a
life broke as they were taking the elevator to work on an AC of the third
floor at a factory building today, they said.
 
Other factory workers rescued and took them to Chattogram Medical College and
Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition where on duty doctors declared
Mostafa's dead.

The other wounded Rifat died around 4 pm today, Sub-Inspector (SI) of CMCH
Police Outpost Mohammad Alauddin confirmed.
 
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Sitakunda Police Station Md. Alamgir
Hossain said legal action will be taken in this regard.
