Abductor held, teenage girl rescued in Panchagarh

RANGPUR, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued a kidnapped teenage girl and arrested the abductor from Ayubganj village in Boda upazila of Panchagarh on Sunday evening.

The arrestee was identified as Shri Kanto Chandra Hazra, 25, son of Shebandra Nath Hazra alias Haque Sadhu of Shyamganj (Elahi Bazar) village in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur, according to a RAB press release issued today.

Earlier, On March 13, Hazra and his accomplices allegedly abducted the girl from Old Chowpathi area near Kursha Model High School in Taraganj upazila around 9:30am.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a case with Taraganj Police Station.

Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 of RAB-13's Nilphamari Camp, in coordination with the Sadar Company of RAB-13 and local police, launched a shadow investigation to trace the victim and arrest the accused.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team conducted a raid and detained Hazra from a house in Ayubganj village around 6:30pm on Sunday. The kidnapped girl was also rescued during the operation.

Both the accused and the victim were handed over to Taraganj Police Station, the release added.
