Five arrested with 10 kg hemp in Bogura

BOGURA, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested five drug peddlers with 10 kilograms hemp in front of Tinmatha Traffic Police Box here in the district this morning.

Police identified the arrestee as Afzal Hossen, 20, son of Siddik Mia of Akhaura Mosjid Para in Brahmanbaria district and Sohel Rana, 32, son of late Nurul Islam, Robiul Islam, 38, son of Akkash Ali, Billal Hossen, 41, son of late Mostofa Mia, and Rafiqul Islam Bulbul, 48, son of Askar Ali Mridha of Adamdighi upazila of Bogura district.

Bogura additional superintendent of police (media) Sumon Ranjan Sarker confirmed the arrest.

During a raid, a team of the detective branch of police stopped and searched a suspicious private car in front of the Tinmatha Traffic Police Box in the morning. The cops recovered five blue polythene bags containing 2 kg of hemp in each, hidden at the back of the car. The police then arrested the five men and seized the car, said Sumon Ranjan.

He said a case has been filed against the drug peddlers and subsequently a court has sent them to jail.
