TANGAIL, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Showkat Ali, 45, chairman of Bhadra union under Nagarpur upazila of the district today from the Union Parishad's office.
 
Showkat Ali is a resident of Khaguria village of the Union, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nagarpur Police Station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.

Police said a group of miscreants attacked students who were holding a protest during the anti-discrimination movement at Nagarpur Bazar on August 4, 2024.

Following the attack, a student named Monir Miah filed a case with the Tangail court, naming 129 individuals as accused. Showkat Ali was arrested in the case.

The arrestee has been sent to the Tangail court, the OC said.
