CHUADANGA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - The 126th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was celebrated in the district today with various programmes.
On this occasion, a procession, wreath-laying and doa mahfil were organised in Karpashdanga Union of Damurhuda upazila, 20 kilometers southwest of the district town, at 10 am.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Superintendent of Police (SP) Khandaker Golam Maula and various cultural organisations laid wreaths at the monument of the poet in front of the Atchala Ghar.
Later, a discussion meeting and cultural programme were organised at Karpashdanga Secondary School ground.
In the evening, the play "Rikter Bedon" will be staged by the Arindam Cultural Organisation here. To mark the national poet's birth anniversary, another discussion and cultural programme will be held tomorrow at 5:30 pm.
