BGB seizes illegal goods worth Tk 1.42cr in Sylhet frontier

SYLHET, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Taka one crore 42 lakh and 37 thousand from the Sylhet and Sunamganj border areas this morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion, confirmed the matter to BSS.

On a tip-off, multiple special teams conducted drives in Banglabazar, Sonalichela, Sangram, Pratappur, Tamabil, Bisanakandi border areas and seized a large quantity of Indian blazer fabrics, skin care creams, sunglasses, three-piece suits, various types of sarees, lehengas, pond's face wash, hair oil, chocolates, cumin, navratna powder, cows, betel nuts and horn fish.

The smugglers fled the scene sensing the presence of the BGB forces.

The process of depositing the seized goods with the Customs Office is
underway.
