KHULNA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - A truck driver was killed in a road accident at Jhilerdanga Nijhumpur area under Dumuria upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Azharul, 18, son of Alamgir, resident of Badurgachha Musolmanpara area under Dumuria upazila of the same district.

The accident took place around 9.30 am when a passenger carrying speedy bus hit a truck. The truck fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the wheel, said Md Fazlul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kharnia highway police.

The passenger bus was coming to Dumuria from Khulna while the brick-loaded truck was coming to the zero point area in Khulna from Dumuria, Police personnel said.

Local people recovered the truck driver from the truck and rushed him to Dumuria Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead, OC said, adding that the bus driver managed to flee the scene.
