DHAKA, June 12, 2025 (BSS) – An elderly couple was killed in a fatal road accident near the Talbaria area under Naragati thana in Kalia Upazila here today.

The deceased were identified as Jafor Mamun, 72, and his wife Marjina Begum, 62, residents of Baro-Kalia Beparipara in the same upazila.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple was traveling by a battery-operated easy-bike when it collided head-on with a trolley coming from the opposite direction around 1:15 PM. The accident left the couple and the easy-bike driver seriously injured.

Locals rushed them to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the couple dead. The easy-bike driver, identified as Babul Sharif, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Md. Ashikur Rahman, acting officer-in-charge of Naragati Police Station, confirmed that both vehicles have been seized. 

He said that the bodies will be handed over to the family after the completion of legal formalities.
