THAKURGAON, June 13, 2025 (BSS) - Two siblings drowned in a river in the Sluicegate area under Haripur upazila of the district.
The deceased were Sadia Akhtar, 11, and Saddam Hossain, 6, children of Aminul Islam.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Haripur Police Station Zakaria Mandal said they went to bathe in the nearby Nagar River yesterday afternoon but were swept away by the strong current.
After a frantic search, the body of Sadia was recovered yesterday evening, while the body of Saddam was recovered this morning.
Aminul Islam, a resident of Parshuram Jalchatra village in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur, along with his wife and two children, went to his in-laws' house on the occasion of Eid, the OC added.
