CHATTOGRAM, June 14, 2025 (BSS) - People have been returning to the Port City’s workplace peacefully after celebrating Eid ul-Azha with their near and dear ones in villages on the last day of the holiday today.

They are returning to Chattogram city from different parts of the country including the capital by rail, road and air.

Although the pressure of Chattogram-bound passenger vehicles have slightly increased at various entrances towards the port city since this morning, no major traffic jams have been observed.

"No crowds were found at bus counters and railway stations as well as no traffic jam on highways,” Abdul Alam, a bus passenger at Goribullah Shah Mazar gate who came from Rajshahi told BSS here today.

He said he and his family members reached their destination on time, as there was no traffic jam on the highway, even though a large number of people are heading towards Chattogram after   Eid.

Visiting AK Khan and Alankar intersections in the city it was found that people, returning to Chattogram after celebrating Eid expressed their satisfactions over the journey as they did not face any major hurdle on the highways.

It was observed that the pressure of long-distance buses, microbuses and private cars has been gradually increasing since morning. Passengers were seen getting off the bus and going to their respective residences in rickshaws, CNG or other public transports with their luggage in hand.

Shah Amanat Bridge crossing, Oxygen crossing, Chattogram rail station and the city gate area are now bustling with people returning to work places from villages carrying luggage, bags and sacks. 

Besides, the government has taken various measures to ensure a smooth journey and security on highways during the long Eid holidays.

Different transports are coming to Chattogram from different districts in the country with full of passengers. 

Green Line Paribahan Divisional Manager Babul Aich said, "We have been working in coordination with law enforcement agencies and road authorities to ensure safe and smooth travel of passengers since the Eid. 

Measures have been taken to include additional buses, train drivers and monitor traffic patterns before the start of the holiday, so that work-bound passengers can reach their destinations smoothly, he added. 

Station Manager of Chattogram Railway Station Abu Bakkar Siddique said that special trains have been arranged for returning passengers after Eid and regular intercity trains are running as per schedule.

 Railway authorities are vigilant to ensure smooth travel of passengers.” It is learnt that the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) is taking special measures to maintain law and order in the city after the Eid holidays.
