JOYPURHAT, June 16, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed and five others were injured in a road accident at Khanjanpur Mission area of Sadar upazila early this morning.

The deceased was identified as Idris Ali, 41, son of Ekram Ali, a resident of Adarshpara Mohalla in Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred on the Joypurhat-Naogaon road when a tractor collided head-on with an auto rickshaw around 12.30 am, leaving auto rickshaw driver dead on the spot and five others passengers injured, said Khandaker Farid Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station.

The injured were taken to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital. 

Among the injured, Masud Hossain, Shamim Hossain and his wife Minu Akhter were shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, Bogura in critical condition.

Police seized the truck but its driver and his assistant managed to flee away.
