Seeds, fertilizers distributed among 1,350 farmers in Cumilla

CUMILLA, June 23, 2025 (BSS) - Amon seeds and fertilizers were distributed among 1,350 farmers of Burichang upazila of the district today.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Tanvir Hossain inaugurated the distribution programme at the upazila agriculture office auditorium.

Upazila agriculture officer Krishibid Afrina Akhter presided over the program. Agriculture officer Md. Atiqur Rahman, assistant agriculture officer Shamsul Alam, deputy assistant plant protection officer Billal Hossain Khan and Burichang Press Club President Kazi Khorshed Alam were present.

Each of the farmers got 5 kg of paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.

In addition, 5 coconut seedlings each were distributed to 110 farmers and 46 institutions, hybrid pepper seeds and pesticides to 40 farmers, lemon seedlings and fertilizer to 40 farmers, 60 palm seedlings, vegetable seeds and fertilizer to 70 farmers, mango seedlings to 34 farmers and neem, wood apple, jam and jackfruit seedlings to 800 students. 

Upazila agriculture officer said that through this programme, farmers are being motivated towards modern and sustainable agricultural systems. The aim of this initiative is to maintain environmental balance and ensure safe food production by planting fruit and herbal plants.
