RANGPUR, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) – Speakers at a women’s rally have said gender parity is very crucial component for building a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
Women should have equal access to every sphere of development as they make up almost 50 percent of total population of the country, they told at the rally on the socio-economic development of women at the Panchagarh Sadar Union Parishad hall room on Tuesday.
The Panchagarh District Information Office organized the rally, a press release of PID’s Rangpur Regional Office said.
One-hundred women from different professions participated in the programme
Additional Deputy Commissioner Suman Chandra Das was present as the chief guest at the rally presided over by Panchagarh Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Md Al Imran.
Deputy Director of the Panchagarh Youth Development Department Md Maksudul Kabir, Assistant Director of the District Narcotics Control Department Rahul Sen and Information Officer of the Panchagarh District Information Office Md Haider Ali spoke as special guests.
The chief guest said men and women are two wheels of society, without which it is not possible to move forward. So, there is no alternative to provide appropriate education and employment to women to make them self-reliant.
"Child marriage is a curse and a major obstacle to the progress of society. To free society from this curse, everyone must be vocal in preventing child marriage,” he said.
Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Md Al Imran said, “Violence against women is crime. Women are not a burden on society. It is necessary to ensure equal rights for men and women in all fields of development.
