MANIKGANJ, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested three alleged hijackers from the Aricha Launch Ghat area under Shibalaya upazila in connection with a gold snatching incident.

The arrested hijackers are Sajal, 42, Shahjahan, 44, and Israfil ,45.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibalaya Police Station Kamal Hossain said that on August 13, a gang of four forcibly snatched five voris of gold from Khalilur Rahman, General Secretary of the Charigram Bazaar Committee, while he was on his way to Pabna.

Following the incident, Khalilur Rahman filed a case with Shibalaya Police Station, naming four individuals involved in the robbery.

Acting on the complaint, police conducted a special drive in the Aricha ghat area at night on 18 August and managed to arrest three of the accused on yesterday morning. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused and recover the stolen gold, the OC added.

Khalilur Rahman later identified the arrestees at the police station.

The arrested were produced before the court on Tuesday.
